Uruguay

We visited Uruguay for the second time in four years on the 16th of February 2017. This time we visted Punta del Este, a famous seside resort for the rich and famous from around South America and from Europe and the US. There is even a Trump Hotel under construction. We also visited the Ralli Museum, which contains an important collection of Modern Art including a number from Salvador Dali.
In a case of Deja Vu the ship heeled over voilently when we we sailing out of the port when it got caught broadside by a voilent squall in the narrow channel out into the Rio Plata

We arrived at the port of Montevideo in Uruguay on Friday February 15 2013. Uruguay is a country you do not hear much about. Perhaps its main claim to fame was that it was here that the Graf Spree, the German Battleship was scuttled after the battle of the River Plate
We travelled out on a steam train trip to the Juanoco Vineyard. The contrast of living conditions was well illustrated on the trip out. Uruguay has fallen on hard times after a reasonably prosperous past
We had a little bit of excitement on sailing when the ship had to take a violent evasive manoeuvre to avoid running into a freighter in the narrow shipping channel, sending crockery along with our meals crashing to the floor.
