Punta Arenas and Paine National Park Chile

We arrived at the Chilean port of Punta Arenas on the Straights of Magellan 22 February 2013. The shore trip was to the Paine National park inland, which involved a flight to Puerto Natales and then a drive into the National Park. Unfortunately the tops of the impressive Granite Peeks were wreathed in clouds but the views of wildlife made up for it , with Andean Condors sighted on the ground, Curucao's, Flamingos and Guanacos. The glaciers were pretty impressive (and we had another view of these and the peaks when we sailed up to the Amalia glacier a couple of days later).

On returning to the ship we sailed through the Straights of Magellan into the Pacific Ocean. The scenery is very similar to Alaska or even parts of New Zealand with the Southern Beech forests
