Quito

Ecuador

After our trip to Machu Picchu we flew out of Cuzco on the early hours of the 5th of March to Quito in Ecuador. Quito is at a high altitude in a large central valley between two ranges of the Andes. The old part of the city is a world heritage site.

We flew out of the city the next morning to the port city of Manta where we caught up with the ship (and Norman) again. Manta is an important Tuna fishing port and we also took a trip out to the Panama hat factory (yes Panama hats come from Ecuador not Panama)

In the night we sailed north across the Equator. I tried to catch the exact moment on the GPS
