Cornwall - England
We arrived in Falmouth, Cornwall on the 31st of July 2016 to glorious weather which lasted for the full day we were ashore. The harbour is meant to be one of the deepest natural harbour in Europe and is popular with the cruising set. St Mawes Castle (pictured) guards one side of the entrance while Pendennis castle guards the other
St Michaels Mount at Marazion near Penzance has a twin in France. St Ives is a popular beach resort, but as judged by the shelters erected the wind can be biting
No trip to Cornwall would be complete without a trip to Lands End. Janet is standing about as far west as you can go in England. I was taken with the Heather and the neat village of Sennen
Of particular interest to Janet was to see the village of Redruth, where her ancestors on one branch (the Rowes) of the family came from. The area has a rich mining heritage (and a lot came from here to the Coromandel goldfields), with many relicts of the tin mines still present. The Poppet Head is at the the last mine that was still active until relatively recently
