Casa Rosa

Buenos Aires - Argentina

We flew into Buenos Aires on Tuesday February 12 from Auckland via Santiago with Lan Chile from Auckland. We had a little time to look around Buenos Aires before we embarked on the Grand Princess on the 14th of February. We took in a Tango Show as well as sight seeing around the city that included the city centre, La Boca and the waterfront areas. The Banner is a view of Casa Rosada made famous in films when Evita and Juan Peron addressed the crowds in the Plaza de Mayo below.

Resentment with Britain over the Malvina's (Falkland's)bubbles not far below the surface. This had an effect on our cruise when the captain cancelled the call on the Falklands and the Argentinian authorities caused problems with our berth in Ushuaia, giving it to another ship.

In Buenos Aires and elsewhere in South America there are memorials to heroes everywhere
